Jigawa State Governor, Mallam Umar Namadi, is leading a high-level delegation on a two-week agricultural trade and investment mission to India.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Hamisu Muhammad Gumel and obtained by Nigerian Times Online on Saturday.
The statement said the delegation, comprising senior officials and technical experts, will engage with leading Indian institutions to explore cooperative ventures in dairy, livestock, seed technology, and agri-tech innovation.
It stressed that the team will visit Gujarat, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, meeting with institutions like Amul Dairy Cooperative, National Dairy Development Board, Srinivasa Hatcheries, and top seed firms like Nuziveedu Seeds and Corntech Seeds.
“The mission aimed at yielding technical cooperation agreements, pilot projects, capacity-building programs, and investment commitments.
“The delegation includes Commissioner of Agriculture, Technical Advisor to the Governor on agriculture, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Director General of Jigawa Research Institute, and Executive Secretary of Farmers and Herdsmen Management Board,” the statement added.
It further noted that the mission will drive practical solutions for increasing productivity, strengthening food security, and creating jobs respevtively.
“The mission is expected to reposition Jigawa as a leader in agricultural innovation and rural transformation, marking a decisive step toward sustainable agricultural practices and economic growth”, the statement said.
