The Council Chairmen of Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas of Plateau State confirmed the killing of 15 people in two separate attacks on Thursday.
According to the Chairman of Bokkos Local government, Mr Amalau Samuel, stated that 10 people were killed in Jwangur village on Thursday night.
“I am aware of the killing of 10 people. They were attacked in their sleep during the night,” he said.
According to Samuel, the bodies were buried on Friday, and several others sustained injuries.
Similarly, five people were also confirmed dead following an alleged attack on farmers in Manjul village, Mangu Local Government Area, on Thursday evening.
The Council Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Bala, said the attackers were suspected to be fleeing bandits from Benue State.
“I can confirm that five people were killed on their farms in Manjul village by suspected fleeing bandits from Benue State. The victims were slaughtered with knives,” Bala stated.
He explained that the assailants, believed to have passed through Qua’an-Pan and Bokkos LGA from Benue, carried out the attack in Mangu.
“We have redeployed security personnel to the area to contain the situation,” he added.
