The Federal University of Dutse (FUD) has recorded an impressive academic feat, with 209 students graduating with first-class honors and 1,371 with second-class upper division in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic sessions.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammad, disclosed this on Monday during the pre Convocation briefing held at the Senate Building of the Institution.
The VC highlighted that the University’s commitment to academic excellence is purposeful.
Professor Muhammad noted that the number of first-class students an Institution produce often depends on the number of students it has.
He said such imply that the University’s focus is on providing quality education to all, regardless of their grades.
He emphasized that having a first-class degree does not guarantee employment, as the University’s capacity to absorb graduates is limited.
However, he assured that the University engages its students and staff in community service, providing free assistance such as vaccinations and advisory services.
The Vice Chancellor also revealed that he has not awarded any honorary degrees during his tenure, citing concerns that it might be perceived as motivated by personal gain.
Instead, he said, he has to focused on promoting academic excellence and community service, underscoring the university’s commitment to making a positive impact in the region.
The Vice Chancellor said FUD is graduating, the total graduands of 4,277.
