The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been formally inaugurated in Jigawa State, with Alhaji Ahmed Mahmud Gumel, a former Deputy Governor, appointed as the party’s state coordinator.
Gumel, in his inaugural speech, emphasized the party’s commitment to building a just and equitable society, calling on the people of Jigawa and all Nigerians to join hands with the party to create a better future for the country.
The occasion took place recently at the Party’s State Secretariat Dutse, the State capital.
He highlighted the party’s vision for a prosperous Nigeria, stressing the need for unity and collective effort to achieve its goals.
The newly appointed coordinator appealed to party members to desist from abusing leaders, whether in government or otherwise, stressing that such behavior is not in line with the party’s social and political ideology.
Gumel expressed confidence that with the support of the people, the ADC coalition would be able to achieve its goals and provide a better future for Nigerians.
He also urged Nigerians, especially the youths, to continue praying for and supporting the coalition movement.
He said the inauguration ceremony was marked by a significant development, as the former Jigawa State chairman of the ADC, Honourable Kabiru Hussaini, and his executive council stepped down to facilitate the successful takeover of the new team led by Gumel.
However, the former State chairman of the ADC, Honourable Kabiru Hussaini, explained that his executive council’s decision to step down was a bold move to pave the way for the new leadership led by state coordinator Ahmed Mahmud Gumel.
He said it demonstrates the party’s commitment to growth and unity, and poised to challenge the APC’s dominance in the 2027 general elections with fresh ideas and prominent politicians joining the coalition.
Also Honourable Bashir Adamu Jumbo, a stalwart of the coalition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former member of the House of Representatives from Kazaure, Roni, Gwiwa, Yankawashi federal constituency said the move in timely.
He also commended the party’s leadership in the state for appointing Alhaji Ahmed Mahmud Gumel as the ADC state coordinator.
He described it as a welcome development, and emphasized the need for collective effort to build a strong presence in the state and challenge the APC’s dominance in the 2027 general elections.
