The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Assessment Team, led by Air Vice Marshal (AVM) M.N. Onyebashi, on Sunday subtly rebuffed demand for the withdrawal of military personnel from Plateau State, commending troops under Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) for their outstanding performance.
During the visits to several operational sectors, AVM Onyebashi praised the resilience and fighting spirit of the troops and urged them to remain intelligence-driven and vigilant in addressing security challenges across the Joint Operations Areas (JOA).
He charged the personnel to steer clear of distractions and remain committed to their constitutional duties.
Onyebashi also conveyed the goodwill message of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), assuring troops that their welfare remains a top priority.
He pledged continued logistical support to boost OPSH’s operational effectiveness.
According to a statement issued by Major Samson Zhakom, Media and Information Officer of OPSH, the DHQ team was received by the OPSH Chief of Staff on behalf of the Commander, Major General Folusho Oyinlola.
The statement quoted Major General Oyinlola as highlighting key operational achievements and stating that the assessment exercise would further enhance the efficiency and professionalism of the troops.
He also acknowledged the significance of such evaluations to the overall success of military operations.
The assessment team visited frontline troops in Sectors 3, 6, and 8, located in Bassa, Riyom, and Mangu Local Government Areas, respectively.
At each location, sector commanders delivered comprehensive briefings on their operational engagements, while Onyebashi encouraged troops to maintain high-level vigilance and dedication.
