The state Government set aside N2 Billion to purchase more commodities, 80 trucks load of Fertilizer on ground.

Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has reduced the price of fertilizer to N28,800 per bag, a move aimed at boosting agricultural productivity in the state.
While inaugurating the State Committee on Fertilizer at the ALGON Secretariat in Dutse, the Governor emphasized the importance of ensuring the fertilizer gets to the right beneficiaries, the farmers.
To achieve this, checkpoints will be mounted on roads entering the state to prevent the fertilizer from being taken outside by agents.
The committee, chaired by Senator Mustapha Makama Kiyawa, Chief of Staff to the Governor, will oversee the distribution of the fertilizer to farmers on loan, which will be paid back after harvest.
Represented by the Chief of Staff, the Governor urged farmers who have collected their loan on fertilizer and solar pumps to pay back, assuring that the state’s agricultural sector will benefit from this initiative.
Senator Makama, who has previously worked with the committee, commended the chairmen of the 27 local government areas for their readiness to assist the Governor in achieving his goals.
The Governor warned that fertilizer vendors and agents found moving the commodities outside the state will face punishment, emphasizing the state’s commitment to supporting its farmers.
“With this initiative, the Jigawa State Government hopes to increase agricultural productivity and improve the lives of its citizens.
“The move is seen as a significant step towards achieving food security and economic growth in the state,” he said.
