The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, along side the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopha Musa had visited Benue State to commiserate with the government and residents over recent tragic killings.
This was stated in a press release made available on Monday by the Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson of the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Accompanied by senior officers, the IGP met with Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia at the State Government House, condemning the attacks as senseless and an act of terrorism.
He assured the Governor that the Nigeria Police Force would do its best to bring the perpetrators to justice.
During his visit, the IGP also went to the Yelwata Community in Guma Local Government Area, where he inspected the damage and engaged with community leaders alongside the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa.
The IGP reassured the community of the NPF’s commitment to augmenting security in the state.
To enhance security management, the IGP has directed the deployment of additional tactical teams and assets to Benue State.
However, DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charged of Operations, will oversee the operations aimed at restoring peace and serenity to the state.
The IGP also addressed officers and men of the Benue State Command, assuring them of adequate welfare and logistics support to tackle the security challenges in the state.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its commitment to bringing the perpetrators of these attacks to justice and restoring peace to affected communities.
