The Jigawa State Government has embarked on an ambitious tree planting initiative, with 4.5 million trees will be planted across all streets in Dutse, the state capital.
The exercise, which was flagged off on Saturday, is part of the government’s efforts to beautify the city, mitigate the effects of climate change, and promote environmental sustainability.
Representing Governor Umar Namadi at the event, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim Mamser, highlighted the significance of tree planting in human development.
Alhaji Mamser enumerated the numerous benefits of tree planting, including air purification, noise reduction, and provision of shade.
He also emphasized the role of trees in supporting biodiversity and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
The Secretary to the State Government urged residents of Dutse to take ownership of the initiative and care for the newly planted trees, ensuring their survival and continued growth.
However, the tree planting exercise is a testament to the Jigawa State Government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and urban beautification.
The initiative is expected to transform the city of Dutse into a greener and more livable space, while also contributing to the state’s efforts to combat climate change.
As the trees grow, they will not only beautify the city but also provide numerous ecological benefits, enhancing the quality of life for residents.
