The Jigawa State Government, led by Governor Mallam Umar Namadi, has embarked on a mission to transform its poultry sector through a strategic partnership with Srinivasa Farms, a renowned Indian poultry conglomerate.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Muhammad Hamisu Gumel and obtained on Wednesday by the Nigerian Times Online.
The statement said during a working visit to Srinivasa Farms’ headquarters in Hyderabad, the Jigawa State delegation explored collaboration opportunities aimed at revitalizing the poultry industry in Jigawa state.
According to the statement that the proposed partnership focuses on eight key areas, including poultry disease management, hatchery technology deployment, and biosecurity infrastructure.
Others are farmer and extension worker training, research and development, technical visits, support for poultry cooperatives, and poultry feed and nutrition solutions respectively.
It further explained that the Srinivasa Farms, with its expertise in poultry breeding, feed production, and animal health solutions, is an ideal partner for Jigawa’s agricultural modernization agenda.
It noted that Governor Namadi expressed optimism about the initiative’s impact, stating that the partnership represents a giant leap in Jigawa’s commitment to agricultural transformation.
“With the right technology, training, and strategic alliances, Jigawa aim is to emerge as a hub for poultry excellence in Nigeria.
“An official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed in the coming weeks to formalize the partnership.
“The partnership is part of Jigawa State’s 12-Point Agenda for economic growth and food security,” it said.
However, the state delegation’s visit to India is designed to attract expertise, partnerships, and innovations that align with Jigawa’s agricultural development goals.
Therefore, with this partnership, Jigawa is poised to take a significant step towards transforming its poultry sector and improving food security in the state.
