The former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido has launched a scathing attack on the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government for using intimidating tactics and policies against it’s opponents and oppositions.
Lamido who was speaking at the Jigawa state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention held at the Aminu Kano Triangle on Saturday said Nigerians are fed up with the APC’s rule.
The alleged inflammatory remark by Labido underscores the deepening rift between the two parties, the ruling APC and the opposition PDP.
Lamido’s alleged criticism of the APC comes amid growing concerns about countless defections from the opposition parties to the ruling party.
Lamido also predicted that APC will soon burst and split into factions, alleging that the party is a conglomeration of people with different mindsets.
He further highlighted that PDP still has confident and strength to trash it’s opponents in the 2027 elections.
Lamido’s comments also touch on broader issues of governance and leadership in Nigeria, which he alleged are hindered by the ruling APC.
“Nigeria is blessed, but the leaders are always the problem,” he said,
He therefore warned the government in power to stop intimidating the opposition, because such could lead to further problems.
However, the newly elected Chairman of the PDP in Jigawa State, Honourable Ibrahim Babandi Gumel called for unity among the party’s members ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on behalf of all elected exco, Gumel emphasized the importance of coming together to strengthen the party’s position ahead of 2027 elections.
Gumel expressed optimism that the PDP will capture political power from the state to national level in the 2027 elections.
With a united front, he said the party can achieve it’s goal and reclaim its position as a dominant force in Nigerian politics.
The election was conducted by Barrister Isah Ahmed, the national officer from the PDP headquarters who served as a returning officer.
