Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, the Gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 election, , has criticized Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi for prioritizing foreign trips over addressing the needs of the state’s residents.
Ringim stated this recently in a political gathering organized by the NNPP in Taura town, the headquarters of Taura Local Government Area.
Ringim emphasized that effective leadership involves protecting citizens’ lives and properties, providing essential services like education and healthcare, ensuring security, and delivering democratic dividends.
According to Ringim, Governor Namadi’s frequent international travels demonstrate a lack of focus on the state’s pressing issues.
He stressed that citizens expect tangible results from their leaders, rather than mere promises.
Ringim’s comments reflect the growing concerns about the governor’s leadership style and its impact on Jigawa’s development.
In a separate matter, Ringim reaffirmed his loyalty to NNPP’s leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and expressed his party’s readiness to follow directives from the National Working Committee.
However, he also engaged in a public spat with former Governor Sule Lamido, disputing certain claims made in Lamido’s book, “Being True to Myself.”
Ringim threatened to expose Lamido’s personal life if the former governor continues to discuss his own life publicly.
Ringim claimed to have intimate knowledge of Lamido’s personal, political, and administrative life, stating that he would not hesitate to reveal details if provoked further.
This public exchange highlights the ongoing tensions between the two figures and underscores the complexities of Jigawa’s political landscape.
Ringim was the Chief of Staff to Sule Lamido when he was Governor of the state between 2007 to 2015.
