Bauchi State Police Command has foiled an armed robbery attempt on the Toro/Jos federal highway, killing one of the suspects in the process, while others fled.
According to a press statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Mr Ahmed Wakili on Thursday said among the robbers, one Abdu Shagari, 24 years old was killed after a cross fire with the police.
“The operatives responded to a distress call on June 4, 2025, at about 3:30 am, and engaged the armed robbers in a confrontation.
“The robbers were forced to disperse due to the police’s superior firepower, and one of them, identified as 24-year-old Abdu Shagari, sustained fatal injuries.
“The deceased was taken to Toro General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel,” he said.
Wakili said the police recovered a knife, stick, rubber solutions, cigarette pieces, and a flashlight from the scene.
Adding that an investigation is ongoing to apprehend Shagari’s accomplices who fled the scene.
He stressed that Bauchi State Police Command has demonstrated its commitment to ensuring the safety of motorists and residents in the state.
He said the command’s swift response and bravery in confronting the armed robbers have prevented potential harm to innocent lives and property.
He therefore ensured that the police are working to bring the perpetrators to justice and
maintain peace in the state.
