The Jigawa State Executive Council, led by Governor Malam Umar Namadi, has approved several key projects and initiatives to boost the state’s economy and improve the lives of its citizens.
The press statement was signed and issued to Nigerian Times Online on Thursday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Muhammad Hamisu Gumel after the state executive council meeting.
The statement said one of the major decisions was the award of a contract for additional works on the maintenance of the failed section of the Madobi-Katanga-Dangoli Road in Dutse Local government area.
The statement stressed that the contract worth N358,579,152.25 Million, bringing the total sum to N1,800,529,988.08 Billion.
It noted that the council has also received an update on the demarcation of forest and grazing reserves across the state.
“A total of 1,280.5 hectares of grazing reserves and 49.6 km of cattle routes have been demarcated statewide.
” The committee, chaired by Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim, has successfully demarcated grazing reserves in several local government areas, including Birnin Kudu, Gwaram, and Kiyawa.
“This initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and enhance peaceful coexistence among farmers and herders,” it added.
Also the statement said Governor Namadi has recently led a high-level trade mission to India from May 26 to June 3, 2025, to modernize the state’s agricultural sector through global exposure.
It said the mission focused on accelerating food security, poverty alleviation, and economic growth through modernization and innovation.
According to the statement that key outcomes include potential partnerships with Indian agro-industrial leaders, technical cooperation with Sangam Milk Producers Company, and identification of scalable innovations in dairy, poultry, and agritech.
The statement highlighted that the council has received an update on the development of an Integrated Human Resource Management System in the state civil service.
It said this initiative aim is to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability within the civil service, streamlining personnel administration and payroll management.
The statenent further stated that the council has directed all recovered funds from the Jigawa State COVID-19 JCARES Programme be deposited into the Jigawa State Government Revenue Account.
“This move aimed at ensuring compliance with the recommendations presented to the council and promote transparency in the management of state funds,” the statement concluded.
