A four-day capacity development workshop for health leaders and managers kicked off in Dutse, Jigawa State capital, with 70 participants drawn from the 27 Local Government Areas.
The workshop was organized by the Department of Health Research and Statistics of the State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the SWAp Coordination Unit.
The workshop was aimed at strengthening leadership, planning, and systems thinking across the health sector.
Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary, Jigawa State Ministry of Health, declared the workshop open, on behalf of the Commissioner of Health, Dr Abdullahi Kainuwa.
Dr Kabiru emphasized on the importance of well-coordinated, skilled, and visionary leadership in achieving sustainable improvements in health outcomes.
The workshop features presentations and technical lectures by experts from the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency.
He said the workshop would covered topics such as the Sector-Wide Approach, system integration, data for decision-making, and health systems thinking.
“Participants include directors, program managers, monitoring and evaluation officers from the State Ministry of Health, Jigawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, and local government areas.
“Development partners, including the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and others, are also in attendance, providing technical and financial support,” he said.
Dr Atiku Hafiz SWAp Desk Officer said the workshop’s outcome will be practical, costed, and results-focused on local government area and facility-level plans aligned with national expectations.
According to him this will reflect a shared vision of achieving Universal Health Coverage and building a resilient, data-driven, and people-centered health system in Jigawa State and Nigeria.
Dr. Atiku said the workshop is instrumental in convening critical stakeholders and ensuring the delivery of a high-impact oriented program.
