The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State chapter has rejected the outcome of the Babura/Garki Federal Constituency by-election held on Saturday.
In a press statement on Sunday, by Umar Kyari Jitau Madamuwa, PDP State Publicity Secretary, said that the party’s rejection stems from alleged widespread irregularities, including vote buying, voter intimidation, and harassment during the exercise.
He said the PDP claims that the APC leveraged state power to compromise the electoral process, robbing the PDP of a mandate freely given by the people.
Mudamuwa explained that despite the outcome, the PDP has urged its supporters and lovers of democracy to remain calm and law-abiding as it explores all legal and political avenues to challenge the result and reclaim its “stolen mandate”.
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate emerged victorious with 38,449 votes against the PDP’s 13,519 votes as announced by IN3C officials.
