The Speaker of Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, has emerged as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The election, held in Abuja, saw Dangyatin succeed as leader of the group, which aims to promote the party’s philosophy, democracy, peace, and Nigeria’s progression.
Other executive members elected include the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly as Deputy Chairman (South), the Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly as Deputy Chairman (North), and the Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly as Treasurer.
The six Zonal Vice Chairmen include Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide of Ogun State House of Assembly for the South-West zone, and the Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly for the North-Central zone.
Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has congratulated Dangyatin, calling his election “well-deserved”.
The Governor stated that Dangyatin’s election comes at a crucial time, ahead of the 2027 general election, and expressed confidence that he will leverage his experience to strengthen APC coordination and secure a decisive victory for the party.
The newly elected executive members will be sworn in on Monday, 9th February 2026.
