The World Bank has commended Jigawa State’s Government for its exemplary leadership, transparency, and effective coordination in implementing the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (AcReSAL) project.
This was contained in a press statement made available to Nigerian Times online on Wednesday, by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Muhammad Hamisu Gumel.
The statement said that the commendation was made by Dr. Joy Agene, AcReSAL Task Team Leader, who visited Governor Malam Umar Namadi recently in Government House Dutse.
According to the statement that the team had praised the administration for its dedication and integrity on AcReSal’s project in the state.
It said the state emerged as one of the best-performing states under the AcReSAL project, with Dr. Agene highlighting the state’s multi-sectoral coordination as exemplary and a model for others.
The statement said Agene commended the Governor’s drive and commitment to benefiting people at the community level.
“The World Bank team visited Jigawa State to assess the ongoing projects, identified areas of strength and improvement, as well as providing recommendations to enhance implementation.
“Jigawa State has done well in monitoring and oversight, exceeding expectations,” it said.
The statement said while responding, Governor Malam Umar Namadi has expressed gratitude to the World Bank for recognizing his administration’s efforts in implementing the AcReSAL project.
Namadi said this include a climate and environmental initiative aimed at promoting sustainable land and water management in the State.
He explained that the project, funded by the World Bank, has positively impacted on the livelihoods of the people, addressing issues such as water scarcity, erosion control, and environmental degradation.
The Governor also praised Dr. Agene, the project leader, for her commitment to best practices and dedication to development.
Namadi assured her that his administration would ensure the sustainability of the project, describing himself as a partner in development.
The Governor highlighted that the AcReSAL project has brought significant benefits to the state, enhancing livelihoods and promoting environmental sustainability in the semi-arid regions of Nigeria.
