The Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Jigawa State Command, Mr Musa Maina said controlled drugs worth over N2.6 billion was tracked and confiscated in Gumel.
Parading the suspects before the Journalists on Monday, at the command headquarters Dutse he said three suspects were arrested along with two vehicles.
He said the two vehicles seized by the Agency were the ones used to transport the drugs to Konar Dolle and from there the drug is distributed to various centres across Jigawa, Yobe, Bauchi and Niger Republic.
He said the suspects arrested after the three day sting operation, covering Jigawa and Kano states were identified as Jamilu Muhammad, Abba Ibrahim, and Shuaibu Umar respectively.
He further explained that the seized drugs include 118.6 tons of Tramadol tablets and 195.3 kg of Pregabalin Capsules among others.
Mr. Maina said the operation was planned for a long time and was successful due to intelligence gathering.
He noted that the agency intercepted a Toyota Sienna and an 18-seater Hummer bus, both loaded with drugs.
Maina highlighted that the suspects are undergoing further investigation to uncover the masterminds behind the large-scale drug trafficking.
The NDLEA Commander therefore described the seizure as the agency’s biggest achievement in combating drug trafficking in the State.
